It has positive anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, since most of the liver ailments are caused by inflammation, turmeric will be helpful in ways more than one. Turmeric also enhances bile production, which will help flush toxins that affect liver inflammation. It has anti-cancer properties.

Turmeric is a low-maintenance plant and it is resistant to various pests and problems. It is a tropical plant and prefers a warmer climate. Don’t plant the Ginger too deep in your grow bed, just lay it on top of the gravel and let the roots chase the moisture. Also great for striking cuttings just poke them in and forget.

Many people say that you should never plant mint in an aquaponics system because of its invasive and get into everything. But considering its benefits, its worth to plant. We recommend to only grow slow growing mints such as apple mint or sweet pineapple mint which is not quite so invasive!

For best results, it is recommended that garlic is eaten raw.

Garlic and onions grow amazingly well in Aquaponic grow beds and help keep the pests down, as they are tall and thin you can plant them amongst other plants like tomatoes or kale.

While planting the garlic, put the clove all the way into the gravel leaving about 1/4 inch stick out. Make sure that the bulb never touches the high water level or it will rot. We can get the entire top grown from a bulb in about two weeks. They act as great natural insect deterrent!

Artichoke

Specifically, it is the leaf of this herb that is known for its liver-loving properties. Amongst others, it has been popular because of claims that it can help in enhancing the flow of bile to the liver. In case you do not know, if bile gets stuck around the liver, complications may abound.

Artichokes are low in cholesterol and saturated fat, while a rich source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It contains vitamins which include riboflavin, thiamine, folate, niacin, vitamin C, vitamin A, E, D, B-6, B-12 and vitamin K. Artichokes also provide minerals such as iron, calcium, sodium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, and zinc.
